Naomi Oreskes, Henry Charles Lea Professor of the History of Science and Affiliated Professor of Earth and Planetary Sciences at Harvard University. She is an earth scientist, historian, and public speaker, renowned for her expertise in agnotology, the political economy of scientific knowledge, history and philosophy of earth and environmental sciences, and science and technology studies (STS). Oreskes is a leading authority on the role of science in society, the reality of anthropogenic climate change, and the impact of disinformation in blocking climate action. She has authored or co-authored nine books and over 150 articles, essays, and opinion pieces, including the best-selling "Merchants of Doubt." Oreskes' secondary interests include science policy, science and religion, and women and gender studies. She has received numerous awards and honors, including the 2019 Geological Society of American Mary C. Rabbitt Award and the 2016 Stephen Schneider Award for outstanding climate science communication, and she is a fellow of several prestigious academic societies.
